Case Study: North East Lincolnshire Council
Background
Like most town councils across the country, North East Lincolnshire Council not only needs to be working efficiently, it needs to be demonstrating that it does so.
With 158,000 residents to cater for and a fleet of over 150 Council vehicles ranging from HGV’s to Passenger Vehicles, carrying out works from refuse collections to road maintenance on a daily basis, the Council decided to implement a tracking and fleet managementsystem which could competitively offer measurable results and help distribute work evenly, reducing duplication to minimise costs.
More than the Right System
Having heard about the system from neighbouring authority, North Lincolnshire Council, Chris Dunn Waste Operation and Garage Manager and his team at North East Lincolnshire Council undertook a mini procurement exercise to take a closer look at three different tracking systems.
The criteria for selecting a system was to find one which was firstly user friendly and would allow them to adapt the system to their needs and secondly, they looked closely at the level of after sales service on offer from each supplier.
